Creating web design that appeals and converts.

I created several websites, web designs and logo’s. Here I discuss a one-pager for the company r-shirt and a website design for Nysser Jeans.

The assignment: Create a one-pager for a sustainable t-shirt brand, r-shirt.

A one-pager for sustainable t-shirt brand.

The colour scheme is designed to look crisp and sustainable. Therefore, the white and green combination is used. The white to convey the white clean t-shirt. The light green represents sustainability. The neon accents are used to attract attention to the buttons and the main added benefits.

The original design of the one-pager from the owner.

Could be improved on:

  • The colours and fond are not modern, giving a boring impression.

  • No call to action so people can not engage and buy or leave an email address.

  • The photo looks photoshopped, which is not professional.

The process

First design:

Creating the colours with green and lighter green accents. Creating a call to action and a more appealing fond.

Changing the layout:

Creating a dark green to colour to make the text stand out more.

Combining the designs:

Selecting a photo that looks like a person.

However, the spacing is off, and the greens together are not cohesive enough. Also, the text on the button is not clear.

Cohesive colours:

The colours fit better, and I added extra benefits relating to the quality of the product because the owner found that the most important elements. However, the text seems cramped.

Text better conveyed:

The text with the benefits are more clear and there is a call to action that attract the viewer. Also, a clear slogan conveying a sustainable brand is added.

Combining designs

The combination of text and branding and clear call to actions. However, the colour of the call to actions are not clearly readable.

Changing the call to action:

The call to action is now more visible. Although, the dark brown is falling out of place with the rest of the design.

The final design:

Changing the colours of the call-to action to white creates a more coherent colour scheme. Making the letters bold increases the readability. The neon green attracts the viewer to click on the call to action.

The assignment: Create a website for Nysser Jeans a sustainable on demand jeans service.

Context: Nysser Jeans is a sustainable jeans brand that lets you copy your old pants into a new pair. They do this by 3d technology and a cutting laser to got out fabric at exactly your size. They asked me to redesign their website.

The old website:

It is an overview of the content. However, the design is basic, and the text does not say much. The brand is technology based, what is not represented. In addition, it is not clear from the text of the website how to order jeans and how the process will go, since the 3 steps are very generic. The slogan People, Planet, Perfect jeans (which I created) is nice but not explained later, which makes it fall flat.

The new design:

The ecstatic is meant to cater to man that are interested in sustainability and new technology. I used dark blue colours to create a more modern aesthetic and related to a classic jeans colour. I pared this with the gold to fit the brand colour and give it a luxury feeling. The fond is based on a coding fond, which gives a new technology association.

I created user interest in the jeans by adding three different reasons to buy the product. I also explained the buying process, to make the interest turn into buying intention. Which was not clear in the first. The illustrations also add to the message.

I also changed the logo to make it more modern and luxurious.
